With strong engineering expertise, Sedron’s processes reduce nutrient pollution, lower operational expenses, and promote sustainability at a fraction of traditional costs.The Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of Sedron Technologies, and or its subsidiaries, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role oversees general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial close processes, while maintaining a strong internal control environment and ensuring compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.The Controller works closely with the CAO, CFO and finance team to support strategic financial decision-making and serves as a key resource for audits, tax compliance, and financial systems management. This is a critical leadership role in the finance organization for a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical skills and managerial experience.Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:Oversee the full cycle of accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assetsManage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process; ensure timely and accurate preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statementsDesign, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework; enforce accounting policies and procedures across the organizationCoordinate and lead external audit activities; serve as the primary liaison with auditors and prepare all required supporting schedules and documentationOversee tax compliance activities including sales and use tax, income tax filings, and coordination with external tax advisorsManage and develop the accounting team, providing coaching, training, and performance oversightPartner with the CAO, CFO and FP&A team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activitiesDrive continuous improvement in accounting systems, processes, and reporting capabilities, including ERP optimizationEvaluate and implement new accounting standards and pronouncements (ASC updates)Directly supervises Accountants, AP Associates, AP Clerks, and other accounting staffResponsible for hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of the accounting teamProvides work direction, sets priorities, and evaluates team performanceMay participate in compensation recommendations and disciplinary actionsSupport M&A diligence activities and integration of acquired entities from an accounting and systems perspectiveAssist with investor reporting, lender compliance, and covenant reporting as neededThis position allows for growth and career progression to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.BENEFITSMultiple medical, dental, and vision insurance options to keep you feeling your best401(k) with employer matchingGenerous paid time off and paid holidays (plus 2 floating holidays to use your way)Disability, Life, and AD&D InsuranceFSA and HSA options with employer contributionsTuition reimbursement — we invest in your growthCasual work attire — no suits required (unless that’s your thing)EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree in Accounting or MBA preferred8–12 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3–5 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role; manufacturing or project-based industry experience strongly preferredDeep expertise in ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics, NetSuite, SAP, or similar); advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with consolidation and reporting toolsComprehensive knowledge of GAAP and internal controls; proven ability to lead accounting teams and manage audit relationshipsExceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and financial statement integrityProven leadership and team development skills; ability to build and retain high-performing accounting staffStrong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to research, interpret, and apply complex accounting standardsEffective communicator with the ability to translate accounting complexity for non-finance executives and board membersProcess improvement mindset with experience leveraging technology to enhance accounting efficiency and controlsMinimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GEDMust have effective verbal, reading, and written communication skills in the English languageADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCompensation for this role is between $145,000 - 240,000 annuallyThis role may qualify for a discretionary bonus, recognizing outstanding contributions to team and company successIn compliance with state and local pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this role is shared above. The range provided is Sedron’s estimate of the base compensation for this role and the final offer will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location. Compensation may be adjusted within this range to reflect regional cost-of-living differences in states where Sedron is hiring.Must be a US Citizen or legal permanent resident for this position.
