Volunteer Camp Cook

Job DescriptionThe kitchen volunteers for each session serve as head chef for one week, responsible for feeding all of camp (campers, volunteers, staff, etc) daily breakfast and dinner.Daily ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute breakfast and dinnerBreakfast duties from 6AM-9:30AMDinner duties from 3:30-7PMMeal times may varyCommunicate any supply needs to the kitchen manager with appropriate advanced noticeFollow proper serve safe regulations and uphold a clean, safe kitchenBe aware of all dietary differences and plan dietary friendly alternatives for each differenceAll first time kitchen volunteers must attend volunteer orientationSkills and QualificationsAbility to cook for ~60-80 people at a timeRecipe lead and execution (intricate/creative recipes are not a must)Ability to be on your feet for ~3 hour time chunksA solid understanding of food safety and how to uphold commercial kitchen standards of safetyServSafe Certified (Food Handler level; camp will reimburse for this course)Have a passion for cooking in large quantitiesPreferred QualificationsAbility to lift heavy boxesHave worked in a culinary settingOther InformationPermitted one night off to enjoy a camp activity, must be communicated to the kitchen manager with proper noticeVarious events involving meals away from campWeekly beach cookoutsBreakfast on the beachTo-go dinnersAt least one volunteer in the kitchen must be able to lift over 30lbsLunch is covered by direct care volunteers and this time will be off for kitchen volunteersCommunication with these volunteers allows lunch cooks to know what is available/which ingredients are available.The volunteer can turn in up to $300 for travel reimbursement.Volunteers will be housed and fed for the duration of their stayDatesWe are currently hiring volunteers for:Monday 6/29 - Sunday 7/5 (must attend a prior orientation)Thursday 7/23 - Saturday 8/1
