Senior Software Engineer, Lyft Business

We sit at the intersection of product and platform, owning both the customer-facing features and the underlying infrastructure that makes them reliable at scale. Our work directly impacts how businesses integrate with Lyft, how admins manage their programs, and how millions of riders get where they need to go.Responsibilities:Drive architecture and technical design for systems that are highly available, scalable, and built to last — not just for today's requirements but for where the product is headingOwn features end-to-end: from shaping the technical spec and design through to production rollout and operational healthThink critically about how AI capabilities can be incorporated into Lyft Business products to improve the experience for business admins and riders — and bring that perspective into roadmap and architecture conversationsMake well-reasoned trade-off decisions and communicate them clearly to peers, leads, and cross-functional partnersWrite clean, well-tested, maintainable code and hold a high bar for the same in code reviewsPartner across engineering, product, and design to align on direction and get buy-in on technical approachesProactively engage in incident response, contributing both to resolution and to long-term reliability improvementsGrow the team's technical culture through design reviews, tech talks, and mentorshipExperience:5+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of designing and shipping production systems at scaleStrong system design instincts — you can reason through distributed systems trade-offs, identify failure modes, and choose the right architecture for the problemCuriosity and informed opinions about how AI can meaningfully improve product experiences, not just as a workflow tool but as a capability embedded in what we buildHands-on experience with large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)Proficiency in object-oriented programming; experience with the languages and frameworks used in our stack is a plusSolid foundations in relational and NoSQL databases — data modeling, query optimization, and operational considerationsClear communicator who can explain technical decisions in writing, in design reviews, and across teamsBS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experienceBenefits:Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolledMental health benefitsFamily building benefitsChild care and pet benefits401(k) plan with company match to help save for your futureIn addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off18 weeks of paid parental leave. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
