ABOUT THE POSITION The Innovation team is a future-thinking team responsible for world-class innovation of platform technologiesthat enable next-generation consumer products for active people. The Innovation team is looking foran R&D Scientist/Engineer focused on conducting research and development of advanced materials and systems for integration into apparel, footwear, and equipment.As our R&D Scientist/Engineer, you will manage and coordinate day-to-day activities for R&D innovation projects, build relationships and manage information flow to other Columbia departments and outside partners to accomplish prioritized R&D projects. HOWYOU'LLMAKE A DIFFERENCE Research and development of advanced materials, including polymers, ceramics,metalsand composites Conduct andassistwith laboratory testing related to new material and technology developments Designtests,build, and repair test equipment as needed Proactively manageand actively track prioritized project tasks and timelines Literature review and research of relevant background science and technology; technology landscaping and due diligence research Provide support to innovation managementregardingresearch and development ofnew technologies Partner with other technical team members tomaintainproper documentation International and domestic travelasneeded toconductmaterial and technology development, including visits to manufacturing and R&D partners YOU ARE Amaker and aproblem solver, especially when challenges arise while developing and commercializing new products Able to build relationships and communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders Hands-on maker and tester, capable of displaying a clear understanding of materials and testing An effectivecommunicator, able to create and deliver technical and informational presentations Stronglyinterested in products foruse in theoutdoors YOUHAVE Technical degreein Engineering Technology or related field, orBS in Science or Engineering, advanced degree (MS or PhD) a plus. Preferably in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, biomechanical engineering, or chemical engineering. 3-10 years' experiencein science/engineering environment.
