This position will be ON-SITE at our Jackson location.JOB SUMMARYThe AVP, Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing the bank's commercial credit function, ensuring the quality, integrity, and performance of a diverse commercial loan portfolio. This role ensures that commercial lending activities are conducted within the bank's established risk appetite, credit policy framework, and in alignment with applicable regulatory agencies.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLead, train and mentor a team of credit analysts and/or underwritersPromote a culture of disciplined credit analysis and continuous improvementPartner with commercial lenders to structure sound, competitive loan proposalsProvide guidance on deal structuring, risk assessment, and policy interpretationReview, analyze, and approve or decline complex commercial loan requestsEvaluate borrower financials, cash flow, collateral, and repayment capacityMonitor the performance and risk profile of the commercial loan portfolioIdentify emerging credit risks and recommend corrective actionsOversee risk rating accuracy and ensure timely upgrades / downgradesEnsure adherence to internal credit policies, regulatory guidelines, and underwriting standardsMaintain compliance with applicable banking regulations and audit expectationsAssist in developing, refining, and implementing credit policies and proceduresMay perform various other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSRequired:Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field8-10+ years of relevant experience in commercial credit experience with significant exposure to underwritingPrior leadership or supervisory experiencePreferred:MBA or CFA preferredExperience in a community or regional bank environmentRequirementsSKILLSExpertise in commercial credit analysis, including financial statement analysis and cash flow modelingExcellent credit judgement and risk assessment capabilitiesProven ability to manage competing priorities in a growth-oriented environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex materialsAbility to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with direct interaction across lending, senior leadership, and risk functionsProficient with Microsoft Office programsWORK ENVIRONMENTThis position is an on-site position located in our Jackson, Fields office and may require occasional travel.
