Areas of Responsibility
Menu Creation – Lead Bartender with oversight from F&B Leadership
Bar team can and should submit cocktails for consideration
F&B Leadership team and lead bartender should taste all cocktails and workshop new menu additions
Menu prep and cocktail design should be streamlined to reduce the amount of complexity of the cocktail program
Lead bartender should collaborate with F&B Leadership to use the New Menu Creation Timeline sheet to accurately forecast and communicate deadlines for menu printing, staff training, etc.
All recipes need to be accurately costed to reflect profitability. If the costing and inventory sheet is maintained and used effectively this process should not take more than an hour to update.
Spirits Curation – Lead Bartender with oversight from F&B Leadership
The lead bartender will have the opportunity to taste and evaluate all spirits being considered for addition to the menu
The lead bartender must communicate all spirit addition requests to the Restaurant General Manager along with justification for the addition. Spirits should not be purchased prior to Restaurant General Manager approval
The spirits focus for should lean heavily towards world whiskies, aged spirits and those with British influence
Other spirit categories should be tightly curated—we don’t need dozens of spirits beyond what has proven to be market-necessary
The inventory sheet should be reviewed periodically to ensure pricing is as accurate as possible
Spirits curation and costing should not take more than one hour a week
Hiring, training, and staff oversight – F&B Leadership Team & Lead Bartender
A large part of lead bartender’s ongoing tasks should be coaching, mentorship, and leadership of their fellow bar team.
Ideally, the lead bartender should spearhead all bar staff training. The lead bartender should have scheduled time to aid with bar training, cocktail making, and coaching classes for the bar team. All classes should have an agenda, which is reviewed with F&B Director prior to the class. All training and class dates must be pre-approved with the management team
The F&B Manager must have a training plan in place for developing the lead bartender.
Bar Cleanliness – Bar Team, Lead Bartender
Bartenders should be fully literate in the opening and closing duties of the bar, and should be able to recognize and address areas of opportunity
This includes the liquor room, storage areas, and prep areas.
The lead bartender and managers should be communicating with the bar team to identify malfunctioning or missing equipment and tools and should be acting to repair or replace said items.
The lead bartender is the main point of contact for cleanliness & organization within all bar areas.
Inventory Management – Lead Bartender + F&B Leadership
The lead bartender will participate in month end beverage inventory on the last day of the month or the 1st day of the new month.
Beer – Lead Bartender
Attention should be paid to profitability and popularity of all beers, but the beer program should not soak up a lot of time.
The beer program focuses on European beer and local breweries.
Fundamentals
Ability to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor always.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience: 4+ years of bartending experience in a formal dining or upscale casual environment.
Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in English required.
Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments.
Ability to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 40 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods indoors with a thematically climate-controlled workstation.

Skillfully carved out of the street level of the hotel as part of our adaptive reuse development of a one-hundred-year-old building, the space provides a direct link to the active pedestrian circulation of the village and soon to be opened campus student center. Intimate in scale and warmly furnished with a subtle patina, the 85-seat restaurant is a perfect complement to the open-air, inspired energy of the hotel’s public space.
