Developer Experience Lead (Engineering Background Required) – 1099 Contract📍 Hybrid – New York City (3–4 days onsite) 📅 6-month contract (high likelihood of extension) 🚫 No visa sponsorship availableWe’re partnered with a fast-growing, tech-driven financial platform building out a developer-first ecosystem powering modern investing experiences.They’re looking for a Developer Experience Lead with a strong engineering foundation — someone who has built systems themselves and can now shape how other developers build on top of them.This is not a pure DevRel or documentation role , you’ll be driving hands-on DevEx strategy across APIs, tooling, and platform experience.What you’ll be doingOwn and evolve the developer platform & experience end-to-endDesign and improve how developers interact with external-facing APIs and toolsPartner with engineering + product to ship scalable, intuitive solutionsIdentify developer pain points and translate them into technical improvementsDrive adoption through better API design, tooling, and documentationWork across backend + frontend product requirementsWhat they’re looking for5+ years software engineering experience (non-negotiable)Background as a Backend, Platform, or Full-Stack Engineer before moving into DevExProven experience working on external-facing APIs / developer platformsStrong understanding of API design, versioning, and integrationsHands-on experience with tools like Postman, API gateways, or similarAbility to operate across engineering and product in fast-paced environmentsStrong communication skills — able to simplify complex technical conceptsNice to have:Experience in fintech / trading / investing platformsExposure to developer portals, SDKs, or API ecosystemsADVERT DISCLAIMERResearch indicates that men will apply to a role when they only meet 50-60% of the descriptions, however, when looking at women and other minority groups, they can look for up to a 99% match in order to apply to a role.
