Assistant Shipping Supervisor

Job Summary: The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Shipping Supervisor and Transportation Manager in performing daily shipping tasks while ensuring accuracy and safety. This role focuses on maintaining accurate documentation for outbound deliveries and may involve extended periods of desk work.The successful candidate will be a reliable, self-motivated, results-oriented individual who demonstrates strong organizational, technical, and mechanical skills to motivate those around him/her through exemplary leadership.Major Responsibilities/Activities:Support departmental activities by adhering to established procedures and approved processes.Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, outbound delivery/warehouse documents, and pick lists.Have a thorough knowledge of shipping methods, techniques, and related equipment and be able to apply this knowledge to develop and implement improvements.Communicate and work collaboratively with supervisors across departments and shifts to ensure effective resource deployment.Learn and utilize ERP and WMS systems (such as SAP and LFS), which are essential to daily operations.Ensure accurate documentation throughout the process using the information systems mentioned above.Must promote a safe work environment.Address and assist with employee disciplinary matters as needed.Assist in the training and development of employees.Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.Minimum Requirements:High School diploma, GED, or equivalent with at least two years of progressive experience in shipping and logistics.Have the flexibility to work on different shifts, as required, to meet shipping or project goals.Experience with ERP systems, WMS, and Microsoft Office preferred.Essential Mental Functions:Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.Strong problem-solving abilities with a solutions-oriented mindset.Demonstrated leadership skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while adapting to changing situations.Essential Physical Functions:Ability to safely lift or move at least 50lbsAbility to safely climb stairs or a ladderAbility to operate warehouse equipmentEquipment Used:Computers, calculators, loading equipment of various types, and other equipment as required.Who we areHörmann is a premier manufacturer of garage doors.
