Job Summary Are you passionate about tennis and enjoy coaching players of all ages and skill levels? The Robinswood Tennis Center is seeking a dedicated Tennis Instructor to join our team. As a Tennis Instructor you will have the opportunity to share your love for the game and help our students develop their tennis skills, from beginners to advanced players. Robinswood Tennis Center is a year-round public facility serving primarily Bellevue residents but is considered a regional facility for the greater tennis community. The Tennis Center features a main building housing 4 indoor courts, locker room facilities, administrative offices, and a retail kiosk. There is an additional 4 outdoor courts, 2 of which are covered by a seasonal air structure (winter). Tennis programs offered include: youth and adult group lessons, private instruction, competitive youth development teams, drop-in classes such as cardio tennis, senior drill & play, and adaptive programs such as wheelchair tennis. Activities include USTA Leagues, inter-club competition, team workouts, and local and sanctioned USTA tournaments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct tennis instruction – individual and group lessons for both children and adults. Prepare lesson plans and training programs tailored to the specific needs and goals of each class or individual student. Focus on participation and teaching fundamental tennis techniques, including basic strategies for singles and doubles play. Facilitate program and event registration, maintain class rosters; provide general support for front desk staff. Perform basic court maintenance, set-up/prepare and store program equipment. Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment to motivate students to reach their full potential. Ensure that all tennis activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Bellevue Parks & Community Services policies and procedures. Interact professionally with parents, students, and customers. Respond to inquiries, concerns, and requests in a courteous and timely manner. Enforce facility rules, policies, guidelines and safety standards. Assist with the promotion and communication of programs, activities and events. Supervision Received and Exercised: This position works under the direction of the program coordinator/lead instructor and assists with lesson plans; has discretion in the general content of delivery of instruction to participants. Qualifications Previous experience as a Tennis Instructor/coach is required. Proficiency in teaching children and/or adults in a group class is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, strategies, and rules. Ability to prepare and create lesson plans. Familiarity of USTA NTRP rating system. Familiarity of the USTA 10 and Under Youth Tennis Progression. Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for the sport. Ability to provide individual participant skill evaluations. Ability to handle emergency situations. Education, Experience, and Other Requirements Two years of tennis teaching experience. Competitive tennis playing experience: High School, College, USTA League/Tournaments. USTA Safe Play certification or ability to become certified within three months of hire. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Must pass a criminal background check. Supplemental Information Physical Demands: Work involves moving, communicating, standing for extended periods of time. Vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to set-up, lift, and transport tennis equipment up to 25 pounds. Work environment may be indoors and/or outdoors.
