New Business Development Project Manager
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic New Business Development Project Manager. As the Leader of a Customer Oriented - Business Development Group (that includes Manufacturing, Quality, Project, Sales and Tooling Engineers), directs and coordinates the activities of the group to meet/exceed customer expectations and internal business sales and productivity requirements.
Duties
Serve as the Program Manager for all new programs.
Create and track detailed schedules, budgets, risks, and resource allocations for all programs.
Responsible for department KPIs including quote-to-actual margins for tools and sale prices and APQP performance.
Assures on time quotations. Analyzes feedback. Coordinates quote reviews.
Maintain good customer relations, assisting in resolving customer complaints and problems in a pro-active and positive fashion.
Communicate status of accounts (quote activity, RFQ's, problems, orders, etc.) with Management on a scheduled basis.
Provides leadership and direction to the BDG members to assure New Projects and Continuous Improvement activities / commitments are on time, on budget, and fulfill internal and external customer expectations.
Assures that stated customer needs and requirements are communicated and understood throughout the organization.
Directs and manages the BDG to assure compliance to the APQP process beginning with the initial customer contact and is directly responsible for the development and maintenance of engineering related elements of the APQP process.
Identify/Share opportunities or Customers that may best fit with other Quantum Plastics divisions.
Preparation of Engineering Standards that assure newly designed tooling is qualified and capable for testing prior to bringing it in house.
Directs BDG activities toward continually improving the company Quality & Environmental Systems.
Establishes priorities, manages resources (internal / external) and workflow to keep projects and activities moving forward and on schedule.
Aware of customer satisfaction status; Participates in the resolution of customer issues.
Responsible for the timely and accurate communication of activities and commitments of the BDG to both internal and external customers.
Confers with Staff and BDG to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
Advises Staff of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, group staffing and/or intra-group relations.
Analyzes new technology trends, techniques and or concepts to resolve problems and offer value added services. Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.
Assists in determining "Leadership" vs. "Participation" roles in CI activities.
Facilitates BDG dynamics and demonstrates effective problem solving and communication skills.
Fosters a team environment that encourages personal growth, education, and development.
Provides direction and examples for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the BDG activities. Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
Educate Train and Promote (EMS) Environmental Management System.
Maintains Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws for direct reports.
Shared / Direct responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, while developing and progressing towards Self-Management.
Skills
Must be able to lead APQP activities.
Able to develop and understand FMEA activities.
Able to understand and carry-out PPAP activities.
Able to understand MSA activities.
Able to understand SPC concept of variation, prevention vs. detection, control limits vs. specification limits, basic chart interpretation, types of SPC’s, specific job-related questions and answers.
Able to understand and carry-out IATF 16949 activities.
Must be able to manage, plan, organize and execute Program Management activities.
Trained in Project Management and Project Software (Microsoft Project).
Education/Certification
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university, or equivalent years of experience and/or training in a sales/project management environment. Active PMI-PMP certification required. Plastic injection molding/selling knowledge preferred.
