Description Of PositionThe Team Leader Occupational Therapist directs day to day operations of the inpatient rehabilitation OT discipline team members including utilization, supervision, instruction and evaluation of professional and supportive staff; evaluates and treats patients. The OT Team Leader regularly scores outcomes measures for their patient case load as required by IRF regulations.SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Director of Physical MedicineResponsibilities And DutiesResponsible for the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction and evaluation of professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students utilized in the department in addition to overseeing the care of all assigned patients.Prioritizes and delegates assignments and tasks appropriately and efficiently.Assesses the functional needs of the patient and sets appropriate goals for that patient.Provides direct patient care and documents to specific IRF evaluations; treatment goals; plans and measurable outcomes as required by IRF regulations.Provides vocational training as appropriate for patient's potential skill level.Provides patient/family with options for adaptive equipment.The supervisory responsibility includes the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students utilized in the department in addition to overseeing the care of all assigned patients.Capable of clear and succinct verbal and written communications; Possess a high level of patience and tenacity; Capable of rapid problem identification and resolution.Requires emotional stability and maturity; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Education And Work ExperienceBS, MS or doctorate degree Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.At least two years experience in an acute or rehab setting preferred.The necessary knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.Current State of Louisiana Occupational Therapy license; CPR certification; Must maintain required hours of in-service per year to meet requirements for CEU's as stipulated by the State Board that governs the profession of Occupational Therapy.Ability to communicate well with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentWork is medium, preferably up to 50 pounds of lifting or carrying without help or over 50 pounds with help. Included is handling patients of all weights, with help as needed, to perform transfers, bed mobility, getting into equipment, and getting into and out of clothing.Positions required include standing and walking on a frequent basis; sitting, kneeling, and stair climbing on an occasional basis; stooping and bending on a frequent basis to assist patients; overhead reach on occasional basis; pushing/pulling on a frequent basis including wheelchairs, stretchers, and pulling or tugging on patients.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. “Experience Memorial” is more than a slogan, it’s the care we provide our patients and it’s the commitment to our community and our team members.
