Pay: $2,866 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Radiation Therapist Location: Oneida, NY Shift: Day shift, 7:30a - 4p or 8am - 4:30p (shift is flexible) Duration: IMPORTANT: Please be aware this not a FT role, REQUIRED dates below: Required Dates: Two weeks in April June 25 - July 10 August 6, 7, & 14 August 24 - September 4 September 8 - September 11 Qualifications: Education: Associate's degree or equivalent (Required). Experience: Three (3) years of full-time experience in the practice of Radiation Therapy (Required). Licenses and Certifications: License to practice as a radiation therapist in the State of New York (Required). Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Preferred). Professional Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of radiation therapy technology practices and treatment planning systems. Familiarity with Linear Accelerators, simulators, and multi-leaf collimators. Proficiency in various software applications for treatments. Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Advanced competency in components of radiation therapy technology practices. Time management skills and ability to manage one's own time and the time of others. Age-specific competency knowledge. Physical Requirements: Frequent use of hands or fingers to manipulate, touch, or handle objects. Regular standing, walking, and sitting. Occasional reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. Regular lifting and/or moving of up to ten (10) pounds, occasionally over one hundred (100) pounds. Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Job Summary: The Radiation Therapist plays a crucial role in delivering radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by radiation oncologists. This position involves performing a wide range of technical duties related to radiation therapy, including simulation, treatment delivery, patient education, and record-keeping. The Radiation Therapist also provides guidance and supervision to other Radiation Therapists and Radiation Medicine staff, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical guidance and consultation to Radiation Therapists and other Radiation Medicine staff. Recommend improvements to departmental operations to enhance efficiency and patient care. Perform all required duties of a Radiation Therapist, including simulation and localization of treatment areas. Monitor and perform patient treatments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to treatment plans. Maintain and document treatment records and summaries, creating treatment charts as prescribed by radiation oncologists. Educate and counsel patients on treatment procedures, providing emotional support during and after treatment. Produce x-ray films for verification of treatment areas and critical structures. Assist in specialized procedures and treatments as prescribed. Maintain and manage Radiation Medicine personal film and lifetime records. Perform equipment safety checks and inspections, including primary and secondary equipment safety checks. Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of Radiation Therapy technology students. Maintain equipment inventory and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs and in-service meetings. Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
