Excellent opportunity for a Sr Fire Protection Engineer in Houston, TX or Chandler, AZ!Job Title: Senior Fire Protection EngineerLocation: Houston, TX or Chandler, AZ (Local candidates only)Pay Range: $60-$77/hrWork Schedule: Hybrid telework (3 days onsite / 2 days from home)Position SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead and support complex mechanical engineering efforts across high-tech projects. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing fire protection system designs while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of mechanical engineering work within project teams or functional groups.Execute engineering tasks based on established practices, while addressing complex challenges such as conflicting design requirements, non-standard materials, and coordination constraints.Utilize Company Standard Application Programs in engineering design and analysis.Prepare and review equipment specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations.Coordinate engineering activities across disciplines, as well as with clients, suppliers, and contractors.Serve as a technical lead for specific project scopes, guiding engineers and subgroups as needed.Communicate complex technical issues clearly and propose effective solutions to project leadership.Contribute to the development of engineering procedures, design guides, and standard tools.Mentor designers and drafters, supporting their technical growth and professional development.Promote a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and teamwork.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.Minimum of 10 years of experience in fire protection engineering, preferably within semiconductor, AI data center, or life sciences/pharmaceutical industries.Required Skills and ExperienceProven ability to independently design and specify fire protection systems, including selection of appropriate sprinkler systems and associated equipment such as fire pumps and water storage tanks.Strong experience performing hydraulic calculations and determining fire water system requirements, including pipe sizing and system demand.In-depth knowledge of industry standards including NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 214, and FM standards.Experience with fire protection equipment such as wet pipe systems, deluge systems, pumps, and storage tanks.Familiarity with testing and commissioning requirements, including NFPA acceptance testing and coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).Ability to manage engineering subcontracts and ensure compliance with design and delivery requirements.Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASME, IBC, IMC, and NFPA.Strong understanding of engineering design principles, system integration, and multidisciplinary coordination.Field experience troubleshooting fire protection systems and guiding resolution efforts.Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
