Job Title: Principal Cardiothoracic Donor Procurement SurgeonLocation: New York, NYPosition Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Cardiothoracic Donor Procurement Surgeon to lead and perform deceased donor heart and lung procurement procedures. This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of surgical quality, donor organ assessment, and coordination with transplant centers across the United States.The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced cardiothoracic surgical expertise, strong leadership presence, and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary transplant teams.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform deceased donor heart and lung procurement procedures to the highest clinical standardsConduct comprehensive donor organ assessments and intraoperative evaluationsEnsure adherence to established surgical protocols and quality benchmarksCollaborate with transplant surgeons and accepting programs to provide detailed surgical assessmentsMaintain accurate documentation and reporting related to procurement proceduresProvide mentorship and guidance to procurement team members when requiredCommunicate effectively with internal clinical teams and external transplant programsMaintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure surgical environmentsMinimum RequirementsMD degree or equivalentAt least 5+ years of experience conducting deceased cardiothoracic (heart and lung) donor organ procurement and assessments and/or advanced cardiothoracic surgical proceduresSpecialized cardiothoracic surgical trainingProven expertise in advanced cardiothoracic surgical techniquesOutstanding interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively while building strong rapport with internal and external stakeholdersAbility to remain calm and professional under pressureHighly flexible and adaptable to changing clinical demandsProficiency with electronic messaging platforms and Microsoft Office SuiteEducationMD degree or equivalent with specialized cardiothoracic surgical trainingMinimum of 5+ years conducting deceased cardiothoracic donor organ procurement and assessments and/or advanced cardiothoracic surgical proceduresCompensationBase Salary: USD $450,000 $500,000 annuallyComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision)Malpractice coverageCME allowanceRetirement plan options
