Bridgeport (CT) Juvenile Residential Center Summer Enrichment Program InternPosition OverviewThe BJRC Summer Enrichment Program Intern will work at the Bridgeport Juvenile Residential Center for a 6-week program aimed to help young people ages 12-17 to improve their educational, social & emotional skills. The Intern will work under the direction of the Site Coordinator, and partner with certified teachers to help provide age-appropriate, gender and trauma-sensitive curriculum with an intensive focus on remediation in math, reading and writing.This opportunity presents interns with the chance to explore potential interest in the fields of education or social work, as they receive training in behavior management and work on a variety of different tasks to ensure the program runs smoothly.Essential Responsibilities:Classroom Instruction & Support* Support classroom instruction as directed by the site coordinator and lead teachers* Instruct students individually or in small groups* Use trauma-informed methodologies to help manage student behavior issues in the classroom* Follow the security and safety protocols of the Bridgeport Juvenile Residential Center* Support the site coordinator and teachers with administrative tasksNOTE: This list is a guide.
