Our firm was established in 2013, and we currently have over 125 professionals with headquarters in Cerritos and additional offices and laboratories in Bakersfield, Redlands, and Sacramento.Position SummaryThe Staff Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for technical support of G3 Quality’s Project Managers and G3 project Quality programs for a client, region, or specific large project. This includes technical related issues and the communication of Quality related matters (internal and external), to ensure compliance with standards of expectations and project contract documents. This position is the primary support of quality related programs at G3 Quality and the successful execution of those services.ResponsibilitiesGeneral and Professional Standards:Adhere to G3 Quality Project Management Behavior GuidelinesMaintain a personal chargeability goal as established by the Department ManagerBudget and Financial Oversight:Assist Project Managers (PMs) in:Developing and monitoring project budgets and profitabilityReviewing weekly invoices prior to Accounting deadlinesReviewing project billing and identifying corrective actions to maintain profitabilityPreparing and processing change orders for additional scope workDocumentation & Project ManagementSupport PMs with:Report tracking, review, revisions, and timely submittalsUpdating project documentation (QC Plans, staff certifications, mix designs, specifications, amendments, etc.)Ensuring all required documents are distributed to field staff (Specs, Mix Designs, Plans, etc.)Reviewing daily reports for accuracy and returning for correction when necessaryCommunication with onsite technicians and inspectors of required field dutiesCompleting project closeout by confirming all testing complies with the Quality Control/Assurance PlansParticipate in site visits and field meetingsSupport project client relationshipsCoordinate laboratory testing requirements with the Laboratory Manager before or upon material receiptCommunicate project-specific technical requirements with the field services manager including:Written field inspection/testing requirements and work scheduleStaff certification requirementsEquipment requirementsSafety requirementsAssist technical staff with site visits, project reconnaissance, evaluations, and proposal developmentAssist project managers with preparing and distributing staffing dispatchesTake ownership of assigned projects/task by:Communicating all internal project needs to appropriate team members within 4 hours of receiptEscalating safety, compliance, production, personnel, or materials issues as neededNotify the PM of potential issues with the daily reports and return the reports to the reporting team for edits if needed. Quality Control Plan SupportCreate, implement and maintain tracking log for all current projects Establish and maintain electronic storage of quality control plans and templates on G3 S driveProvide ongoing as-need support of quality control plan generationProvide quality control plans to PM team within designated timeframeEducational Experience Bachelor’s degree in civil or Geotechnical Engineering required. Certification: EIT (Engineer in Training) Registered Professional Engineer in California preferredRequired Skills and Qualifications:Minimum 2 years’ experience in road, airfield, and related infrastructure materials inspection and testing field with specific civil and or geotechnical project level experience. Total experience should include laboratory testing of hot mix asphalt, aggregate, and concrete, geotechnical, and asphalt binders.
