Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our Charleston-based property management team. This is a senior-level individual contributor role responsible for the financial management of a portfolio that includes seven commercial properties and up to five residential rental properties.Do not wait to apply after reading this description a high application volume is expected for this opportunity.In addition to managing your own portfolio, you will serve as a key quality-control resource for the accounting team by reviewing financial statements and approving bank reconciliations prepared by other staff members. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, deadline-driven, and experienced in multi-entity property accounting.What You’ll DoPortfolio AccountingManage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential propertiesProcess accounts payable invoices with accurate GL codingPerform monthly bank reconciliations and cash balancingMaintain general ledger accuracy and supporting documentationPrepare monthly owner statements and financial reporting packagesAssist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesGenerate balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports for assigned propertiesAccounting Review & Quality ControlReview financial statements prepared by accounting staff for accuracy and complianceApprove bank reconciliations prior to finalizationIdentify discrepancies, procedural gaps, and opportunities for improvementProvide constructive feedback and support accounting best practicesAssist with streamlining accounting workflows and reporting processesVendor & Owner CommunicationCoordinate and approve vendor paymentsCommunicate with vendors regarding invoice questions and payment statusRespond to owner inquiries related to financial reports and statementsCompliance & ReportingMaintain organized accounting records and documentationEnsure compliance with company accounting policies and regulatory requirementsSupport annual audits and tax preparation in coordination with external CPAs and auditorsMaintain confidentiality of financial, tenant, and owner informationAssist with internal controls and audit preparation proceduresQualificationsRequired3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or property accounting experienceAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldExperience xaygatp managing accounting for multiple entities or properties simultaneouslyStrong understanding of:General ledger accountingBank reconciliationsAccounts payable/receivableFinancial reportingMonth-end close proceduresAbility to review work for accuracy and provide clear feedbackProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft OfficeStrong attention to detail, organization, and time management skillsPreferredExperience with RealPage or similar property management/accounting softwareCommercial or multifamily property accounting experienceKnowledge of CAM reconciliationsFamiliarity with owner reporting and property management operationsExperience working with auditors and tax professionalsCompany Description Description
