Veterinary Surgery Technician

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and provide exceptional support to our veterinarians and staff. Primary Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and materials for surgical procedures Assist technicians with preparing patients for surgery Assist surgeons in surgical procedures Clean, pack/pouch, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment Monitor patients pre/peri/postoperative Maintain sterile environment in operating rooms Maintain accurate records of equipment used in surgical procedures Maintain anesthesia machines Running fluoroscopy and capturing radiographs Inventory of equipment used daily/weekly Additional Responsibilities Calculating medication doses Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures Schedule Scheduled (3) 12-hour shifts and/or (4) 10-hour shifts per week Rotating weekend on-call schedule Rotating late-night coverage Working Conditions Standing for procedures (most procedures are 30-60 minutes with occasional long procedure few times per month) Requirement of hand-eye coordination Ability of staying in one position for an extended period Exposure to radiation (in accordance with Florida rules and regulations) Exposure to anesthesia (in accordance with Florida rules and regulations) Schedules can vary depending on needs Qualifications Completion of high school or equivalent required Veterinary certification or equivalent experience Basic tech skills (i.e. placing IVCs, drawing blood, setting up kennels) Knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment used (or the capacity and desire to learn knowledge) Knowledge of surgical procedures and postoperative care Knowledge of sterility Knowledge of medications Experienced surgical anesthesia monitoring Attention to detail Ability to arrive on time and ready to work Ability to work independently Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to lift/move heavy object as needed Ability to restrain animals Excellent communication and teamwork skills Excellent customer service skills Excellent radiographs skills Compassion towards animals and owners
