Position Overview: The Assistant Safety Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our job sites and administrative functions. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong background in OSHA and MSHA regulations, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to develop and implement effective safety programs. The Assistant Safety Manager will act as a liaison between Maymead, the public, the Department of Transportation (DOT), insurance companies, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Job Site Compliance:
Conduct regular site visits to monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA and MSHA standards.
Identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure the implementation of safety measures.
Collaborate with site managers and workers to address safety concerns and improve site safety practices.
Administrative Compliance:
Oversee and manage administrative compliance tasks related to safety documentation, reporting, and record-keeping.
Ensure that all required safety certifications, reports, and documentation are up-to-date and properly filed.
Safety Program Development:
Develop, implement, and maintain new safety programs and procedures to enhance workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Regularly review and update safety policies and training materials to reflect changes in regulations and best practices.
Liaison Duties:
Serve as the primary point of contact between Maymead and various stakeholders, including the public, DOT, insurance companies, and regulatory agencies.
Coordinate and communicate safety-related information and updates to all relevant parties.
Training and Education:
Conduct safety training sessions and workshops for employees to ensure they are informed about safety practices and regulations.
Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit detailed safety reports, incident investigations, and compliance documentation as required.
Track safety performance metrics and recommend improvements based on data analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, with a strong background in OSHA and MSHA regulations.
Relevant certifications such as OSHA Certified Safety Professional (CSP), MSHA, or equivalent.
Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs and policies.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Working Conditions:
The role involves regular travel to job sites and may require occasional extended hours.
Must be able to work in various environmental conditions and adapt to different site settings.
