IL Team Lead Registered Nurse

Mission StatementTo advance the health and wellbeing of our community with compassion and care.Position OverviewAs a Team Leader RN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and leading a team of nursing professionals. Alongside the Nurse Manager, you will be accountable for the quality of nursing care provided on your unit. You will oversee patient care delivery, manage staff orientation and performance, and ensure the implementation of best practices in patient care. This leadership position requires a commitment to both nursing excellence and fostering a positive team environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care and Leadership:Demonstrate clinical expertise and leadership in providing patient care across the lifespan, ensuring it aligns with age-appropriate needs.Role model excellence in nursing practice while adhering to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing Leadership Standards.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for each patient.Ensure patient safety, including identifying and addressing risks, and adhering to infection control standards.Nursing Process:Perform comprehensive patient assessments to identify medical, emotional, and social needs.Develop individualized care plans with measurable goals and revise based on patient progress.Document care delivery and patient status accurately in compliance with hospital policies.Ensure high standards for medication administration, safety, and clinical care.Team Leadership:Oversee the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff.Participate in the evaluation of staff performance and provide guidance for professional development.Assist in staffing decisions, including resource allocation and scheduling, ensuring adherence to productivity standards.Lead and support the nursing team to foster a collaborative and respectful work environment.Quality & Safety:Maintain a strong focus on patient safety and quality outcomes, supporting core measures and patient satisfaction initiatives.Contribute to safety training programs and ensure all staff adhere to unit-based safety protocols.Assist with the implementation of patient safety goals and ensure regulatory compliance.Fiscal & Resource Management:Assist in budget planning and contribute to meeting fiscal goals by effectively managing staffing and resources.Complete payroll and other fiscal functions as required.Required QualificationsEducation & Experience:Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience (preferred).Minimum of 1 year of experience in a nursing specialty (preferred).Licenses & Certifications:Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required.Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of hire (unit-specific requirements).Skills & Abilities:Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.Proficiency in clinical decision-making and problem-solving.Computer literacy with the ability to navigate and utilize electronic medical records.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Physical DemandsThis position requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and 25-50 pounds of force frequently. It may involve prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.Work EnvironmentThis role is not remote and requires on-site presence.Occasional travel may be required, but driving is not an essential function of the job.Equal Opportunity Employer
