Job Summary HPC Computational Scientist supporting the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) User Productivity Enhancement and Training (PET) in Dayton, OH. Your role involves delivering simplified solutions to complex HPC challenges, engaging with Department of the Army science and engineering communities, and driving innovation in high‑performance computing technologies.
Responsibilities Engage with the HPC community to understand current and future needs and stay current with new technology solutions and optimizations.
Explore and innovate new technologies and capabilities relevant to HPC computing, collaborating with technical teams to evaluate and plan future implementation.
Provide subject‑matter‑expert advice for new initiatives, ongoing projects, and support needs as a customer‑facing presence for the DoW science and technology community.
Conduct meetings and discussions with team members and customers to troubleshoot complex technical problems and brainstorm continuous improvement opportunities.
Work closely with other team members and the Team Lead to enhance and expand fundamental HPC capabilities and complete technical projects.
Occasionally present to senior leadership on HPC best practices, emerging technologies (including cloud, AI & ML), and solutions to challenging technical issues.
Qualifications Education: Master of Science (PhD preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of related experience, with at least 2 years of relevant HPC experience.
Technical Skills: Experience working on technology projects with on‑time delivery and customer expectation management; familiarity with HPC services such as high‑performance file systems, modules for installing applications, compilers, MPI, OpenMP, and profiling tools; programming experience in Python, C, C++, etc.
Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a Top Secret clearance.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to present ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences; experience analyzing solution components, understanding system integration challenges, and identifying technology gaps to achieve performance targets and functionality requirements; proficient in writing code for use on HPCs.
Preferred Skills Background in Computer Science or physics‑based computation such as computational structural mechanics (CSM), computational electromagnetics and acoustics (CEA), or computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Location & Compensation Dayton, OH (Hybrid work). Salary range: $85,093 – $103,500.
