Director of Enterprise Applications
Job Summary
Provides leadership for the Enterprise Applications department and oversees daily operations that include management of third-party enterprise applications, administrative systems, departmental staff, and department budget. Establishes an iterative secure software development process that supports building or purchasing enterprise applications. Promotes innovation and serves as the College's liaison for Enterprise Applications for internal and external stakeholders. Establishes metrics for monitoring performance and develops and executes a continuous improvement plan.
Essential Functions
Maintain strong relationships with leaders across the College; participate in the College's IT governance process
Create a strategy that aligns enterprise applications with the needs of the College
Prioritize enterprise application projects and use project management best practices to execute projects
Implement an iterative software development process that creates value for the College
Maintain an enterprise application portfolio, manage the department's budget, and determine the feasibility of new projects
Ensure quality control and assurance of department processes, IT service management best practices, software engineering, and other policies, standards, and procedures
Coordinate a plan for communicating changes to the college community
Innovate and integrate enterprise applications to meet the needs of the College
Use information security best practices when building, buying, and maintaining enterprise applications
Direct the work and priorities of the enterprise application team
Serve as the College's enterprise applications liaison for internal and external stakeholders
Use an iterative software development process to maintain enterprise applications throughout the life of the applications
Coordinate the purchasing process and ongoing contract management for enterprise applications; implement a continuous improvement plan utilizing metrics
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area.
Seven (7) years of experience in an enterprise application environment
Three to five (3-5) years of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in computer science or related area and ten (10) years of experience
Experience with Ellucian Banner in CS, HCM, and Finance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of computers and applicable software applications
Knowledge of applicable operating systems
Knowledge of principles and practices in assigned area of responsibility
Knowledge of computer networks
Knowledge of supervisory principles and training principles
Knowledge of applicable computer programming principles and/or languages
Knowledge of database systems and applicable management concepts
Knowledge of system development processes and tools
Knowledge of project management principles and practices
Knowledge of analytical methods
Knowledge of customer service principles
Skilled in developing, installing, and configuring technological platforms, networks, and systems
Skilled in utilizing and managing databases
Skilled in designing reports
Skilled in using computers and related software applications
Skilled in analyzing processes, information, and data
Skilled in managing projects
Skilled in supervising staff and conducting training
Skilled in conducting research
Skilled in identifying, researching, and resolving complex technical issues
Skilled in preparing technical documentation
Skilled in communicating technical information to a non‑technical audience
Skilled in providing end‑user support for complex problems
Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
