We design for the long term and create thoughtful buildings and interiors with timeless appeal.About The RoleFF is seeking a talented Intermediate Designer to join our Commercial Interiors studios in New York. You will work closely with senior staffs to take part in design development, consultant coordination and project management across all phases – from schematic design through construction administration. The right candidate brings a balance of technical rigor and design sensibility, paired with strong organizational skills, clear communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This is a role with real responsibilities and a clear path toward greater project ownership over time.What You’ll DoParticipate in design reviews across all project phases, contributing to the development and advancement of design intentSupport the selection of materials and finishes, ensuring alignment with design intentDevelop technical solutions and construction details in close collaboration with the design teamEnsure compliance with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and other regulatory standards throughout all documentation phasesPrepare drawing sets and 3D models in Revit in accordance with FF’s documentation and BIM standardsCoordinate consultants’ drawings, deliverables, and schedules during DD, CD, and CA phasesProvide CA responsibilities, including field coordination with trades and consultants, site surveys, shop drawings and submittal review, RFIs, and construction sketchesManage multiple tasks and schedules across concurrent projects with competing deadlinesProactively identify potential issues, document concerns clearly, escalate to senior team members, and propose resolutionsWhat You BringProfessional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution3–7 years of relevant professional experience at a similar architecture or interior design firmSolid understanding of building systems, materials, construction methods, and interior detailingWorking knowledge of NYC building codes, Landmarks requirements, ADA requirements, and other applicable standardsDemonstrated experience producing construction documentation, including CD packages and permit setsStrong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to present confidently in both internal and client-facing settingsProficiency in Revit required; working knowledge of AutoCADProficiency in 3D modeling and rendering programs (Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape, or V-Ray)Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)Active pursuit of architectural licensure (ARE) or NCIDQ certification is preferredApplicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.Salary range: $75,000–$95,000 annually (based on experience/skill level)Experience across a range of project types, including high-end commercial, amenity/hospitality, and workplace interiorsAbility to translate design concepts into constructible, real-world solutionsAbility to communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, clients, and contractorsBasic working knowledge of MEP and lightingExperience running a project from initial concept through CAHardworking, detail-oriented, and independently motivated, with strong problem-solving skillsWhy Join FF?Fogarty Finger has never stopped growing — and neither will you.
