Quality Engineer

Position: Quality EngineerLocation: Valley Green, PAAmphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, highbandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks,Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable theelectronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM'sglobally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design,sales and manufacturing locations globally. The CBS team is looking for aQuality Engineer to join them in the Valley Green, PA location. The QualityEngineer will help to plan and facilitate quality related activities formanufacturing development projects by fulfilling the duties associated withFMEA's, Product Quality Planning, Process Qualification Planning, MetrologyPlanning, Control Plans, Inspection Plans and Methods, Workmanship Standards,DOE's and other necessary studies within a development protocol in developingStatistical Process Control.RESPONSIBILITIES:Act as a team member to manage projects to assess quality aspects, reportprocess feasibility & risks and make quality recommendations on how to proceed.Interface with vendors, process engineering, product engineering andmanufacturing to assure capability levels and documentation compliance areachieved in meeting quality deliverables.Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate deviation events,recommend corrective actions and product disposition, and develop improvementsusing Lean tools and analytical skills (e.g., FMEA, SPC, 5-Why, 12 Step, DMAIC,Risk Assessments, Fishbone Diagram, etc.)Interface with site quality, engineering, and other departments throughoutfinal phases of development and pre-release to manufacturing.Participate in definition of respective project plan qualification tasks andschedules for development projects that meet time to market (TTM) objectives.Determine initial inspection methods based or best-known methods (whereapplicable) and manage metrology requirements.Facilitate process qualification planning assuring conformance to standardsand specifications. Define process qualification plans, inspection plans,inspection workflow, metrology requirements and workmanship standards forprocess engineering.Participate in quality readiness at the site by providing the inspectionsplans, metrology, Cpk requirements and any special qualification requirements.Support the analysis of defined risk areas and experimentation, proof ofprinciple tooling, feasibility studies, capability studies, detailed design andanalysis, DOE, passive data collection (PDC) and or basic technology searchesand development.Participate in product & process FMEA, characterization of product andprocess critical features and respective risk assessment activities.Develop, facilitate and control standards and methods both internally andexternally for the inspection of CTF's inclusive of accuracy, linearity, R&R's,long term stability, FAI's, Cmk's and Cpk's.Ability to analyze operating data, including yield, cycle time, andthroughput to identify and action opportunities, utilizing the appropriate toolsto achieve desired outcome (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean etc.)Assist product and process engineering in the reconciliation of FirstArticle Inspections, Capability Studies and Comparison Studies throughcorrective actions driven by root cause analysis that incorporate processimprovement tools.Assist process development engineers and mechanical Integrity engineers inthe (data & statistical) analysis of feasibility studies, DOE's, passive datacollection's (PDC) and capability studies.Advance capabilities of Operations Team and partners with Quality Team tounderstand and implement new test methods and best practicesCoordinate and or participate in the metrology transfer and training torespective personnel.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree from four-year College in engineering, Quality Assurance;or six to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalentcombination of education and experience.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technicalprocedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively presentinformation and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and theinternal Amphenol groups.Ability to effectively identify and eliminate common cause variation withincontinuous or batch processes through the use of solid practices and analysis inestablishing statistical process control (SPC)Ability to define and generate Quality Plans, Control Plans and WorkmanshipStandards.Ability to provide qualification assessments related to product/processrisks, capability and manufacturability.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions frommanagers, customers, vendors, engineers and manufacturing site representatives.Should have knowledge and skills using:Microsoft Suit (Power Point, Excel, Word, SharePoint)Measurement System AnalysisStatistical analysis software (Minitab)Geometric Dimensioning & TolerancingStrong Knowledge of Gage Repeatability and ReproducibilityDemonstrated skill and knowledge to train individuals and teams.Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal supervision and provide updateson project status where issues or problems can be reviewed, discussed andresolved.Ability to travel internationally to support product development and processramps.
