Software Specialist 1
Position Overview
The Software Specialist plays a key role in our product development and coding process. You will research, develop, test, and maintain state and local premium tax returns in multiple tax software applications. This is an entry level position and training will be provided.
Duties and responsibilities
Develops state and local premium tax returns and supplemental forms using proprietary development tools in conjunction with Java, Kotlin, and IntelliJ.
Researches, analyzes, and implements tax returns changes as necessary.
Tests changes to the software before development and production builds are created.
Provides product support, including phone and email support, while maintaining a professional and lasting relationship with customers.
Maintains state specific documentation for tax laws, tax positions, and standards.
Contacts state taxing authorities regarding tax returns and legislative developments.
Provides suggestions for enhancements and improvements to the software and department-specific processes.
Meets deadlines and commitments.
Other duties as needed or required.

Some work outside normal business hours and some weekends required.
All new hires have a mentor assigned to guide them through the training process which is designed to provide the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to quickly become a productive member of our team.
Qualifications & Skills
Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Knowledge of tax principles or experience working financial applications a plus
Knowledge of Java, Kotlin, IntelliJ a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
