A typical day includes preparing animals for transport, loading them into your vehicle, and traveling around the Bay Area to classrooms, birthday parties, corporate events, and more. No two days are the same—you’ll have the chance to visit new places, meet new people, and spark wonder in audiences of all ages. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about education and excited to serve as a charismatic spokesperson for our ambassador animals and organization.Schedule: On-call, part-time (1–2 days per week, primarily during fall and spring—October, November, March, April, May). Most programs occur on weekdays, typically Fridays, but schedules can vary. We share program dates in advance to allow you to confirm availability. While flexibility is ideal, we are also open to working around the schedule of the right candidate.Location: Programs are held throughout the Bay Area, with the majority in Richmond and Oakland public elementary schools.Compensation: Paid per program. QualificationsComfortable speaking to groups and engaging with diverse audiences, especially elementary-aged children.Patience, gentleness, and attention to detail are essential—our animals and students both benefit from a calm, compassionate educator.Basic knowledge of animal biology, handling techniques, behavior, and herpetology (a love for reptiles and amphibians is a plus!).Ability to be active for most of the shift, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Our programs are interactive!Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a recent DMV driving record upon hire.Background check (Live Scan) and TB test required.
