Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description POSITION SUMMARY:This role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery, equipment, and systems in accordance with safety, quality, and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.· Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and perform repairs as needed.· Inspect, test, and diagnose machine malfunctions using tools and technical manuals.· Install new machinery or equipment and ensure proper operation.· Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports.· Assist with facility maintenance including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.· Follow safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.· Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize downtime.· Collaborate with other departments to support production goals.· Ability to train other maintenance techs when applicable.QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.· Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, ideally diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.· Familiarity with hand and power tools, welding, and fabrication a plus.· Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.· Willingness to work various shifts, including nights or weekends, or holidays as needed.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis in conjunction with the official Company doctor and clinic.· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 65 pounds occasionally.· Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods.· Physically fit to work in an industrial environment and tolerate exposure to varying physical conditions.· Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate tools, equipment, and safety devices.· Tolerance to loud noises, vibrations, dust, heat, and fumes within a fabrication shop environment.· Ability to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) includes safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, high visibility clothing, and hearing protection.WORK ENVIRONMENT:· Industrial warehouse and manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, and overhead cranes.· Strict adherence to safety procedures and use of PPE is mandatory at all times.· Frequent interaction with production staff, supervisors, safety personnel, and quality control teams.· Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, depending on seasonal conditions.EEO:SME Industries, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity (EEO) Employer.
