If the answer is yes, we invite you to consider joining us in boldly challenging what's possible for a sustainable world. nWhat you will do: nTrane Technologies is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting the design and engineering of electrical systems for new construction, renovation, and infrastructure upgrades in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will develop electrical system designs, oversee technical documentation, and coordinate project execution, ensuring strict adherence to codes, standards, and client requirements. nKey Responsibilities nDevelop complete electrical system designs for lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and controls for commercial and industrial facilities. nPrepare designs for roof, ground, and canopy photovoltaic systems including: site layouts, single line diagrams, generation models, and interconnection applications. nProduce construction-ready drawing packages: plans, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, or similar design tools. nPerform engineering calculations: load analysis, short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, voltage drop, conduit sizing and energy efficiency assessments. nEnsure all designs are fully compliant with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, UL, IEC, UBC). nCollaborate with architects, clients, utility companies, and other engineering disciplines to ensure inter-discipline coordination and constructability. nParticipate in site surveys, field investigations, and construction support activities-overseeing data collection, installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning. nPrepare technical documents including engineering reports, cost estimates, permit applications, technical specifications, and as-built documentation. nSupport permit and interconnection application processes with local agencies, authorities, or utilities. nMaintain up-to-date technical knowledge of emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance project performance and cost-effectiveness. nProvide mentoring to junior staff engineers and designers as appropriate. nClient Engagement nInterface with clients, contractors, utilities, and authorities for design validation, permitting, and project execution. nLead or support the preparation of proposals, presentations, budgets, and business development activities. nMentor junior engineers, designers, and interns to support their technical growth and professional development. nWhat you will bring: nRequired Qualifications nBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree (MS) preferred. nState-issued Professional Engineer (PE) license n7+ years of progressive electrical engineering design experience in building electrical systems and/or renewable energy projects. nCompetency in engineering principles and design methodologies related to the solar PV industry including production modeling, array layout, component selection, single- and three-line diagrams, glare studies, arc flash, etc. nDemonstrated expertise with electrical design and modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, PVcase, PVsyst, Helioscope, ETB, etc.). nDeep familiarity with construction/renovation practices for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. nDemonstrated experience contributing as a key engineering member on design-build projects, including collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions. nExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and technical writing skills. nStrong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. nExperienced in the design and delivery of medium and high-voltage systems, substations, energy storage integration, and complex power distributions. nStrong knowledge of permitting, compliance, and interconnection processes for both buildings and renewable power. nProficiency with office automation (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools (MS Project, Primavera). nPreferred Qualifications & Skills nExperience supporting permitting and interconnection processes. nMaster planning experience for campus utility systems, microgrids, and decarbonization/climate resilience initiatives. nExperience with safety, phasing, and quality review processes. nAbility to lead, motivate, and mentor geographically distributed project teams. nKnowledge of international project standards and experience with multidisciplinary teams. nNABCEP PV Installation Professional and/or Design Specialist Certification nAnnual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: n$90,900.00 - $189,800.00 nCompensation Type: nSalary nIncentive Eligible: nYes nSales Commission Eligible: nNo nDisclaimer : We strive to provide competitive compensation for this position, tailored to a variety of factors.
