Company Description What the Fed? is a UW–Madison student-led civic engagement initiative that empowers voters by simplifying complex government policies. Leveraging AI, the platform analyzes federal bills and congressional records to present op-ed style explanations that encompass multiple political perspectives. By showcasing diverse viewpoints, it emphasizes values, evidence, and trade-offs at the heart of policy debates. Guided by Wisconsin’s tradition of thoughtful inquiry and student oversight, What the Fed? aims to provide voters with the tools they need to form informed opinions confidently. Role Description This is a part-time hybrid role for an Outreach Specialist based in Madison, WI, with some remote work flexibility. The Outreach Specialist will engage with campus and local community groups to build relationships and promote the What the Fed? initiative. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting research on outreach opportunities, implementing community engagement strategies, coordinating events, and maintaining regular communication with external stakeholders. The role also involves writing outreach materials and providing support to users of the platform as needed. Qualifications Strong Communication and Customer Service skills, with a focus on building and maintaining relationships.Experience in Community Outreach and Research to identify and engage with key stakeholders and audiences.Proficient Writing skills, including creating clear and concise outreach materials and professional correspondence.Ability to work independently and manage projects in a hybrid work environment.Experience with civic engagement initiatives or voter outreach is a plus.Knowledge of public policy or government processes is an advantage but not required.
