OverviewThe Welding Foreman / Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fabrication shop while providing hands-on leadership in welding and metal fabrication activities. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The Welding Foreman / Shop Manager leads shop personnel, coordinates production schedules, manages materials and equipment, and serves as a key resource for welding and fabrication expertise.The ideal candidate is an experienced welder and leader who can effectively balance hands-on production responsibilities with team management, customer service, and operational oversight. This position plays a critical role in maintaining productivity, quality control, and a positive work environment while supporting the growth and success of the fabrication business.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise daily shop operations and fabrication activities.Perform and oversee welding, cutting, fitting, and fabrication work.Plan, schedule, and coordinate shop workloads to meet project deadlines.Train, mentor, and evaluate fabrication and welding personnel.Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.Maintain a safe work environment and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.Coordinate material procurement, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.Review project drawings, specifications, and work orders to ensure accurate execution.Monitor labor productivity, project costs, and shop efficiency.Communicate with customers, vendors, project managers, and field personnel regarding project status and requirements.Assist with estimating, bidding, and project planning as needed.Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity, and overall shop performance.QualificationsExtensive experience in welding and metal fabrication.Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of welding techniques, fabrication processes, and shop equipment.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in scheduling work, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines.Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
