*BMVP - Connecting Rural Communities to Health Services

BMVP - Connecting Rural Communities to Health ServicesThe mission statement of the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is to improve and protect the health, well-being, and self-reliance of all Montanans. This mission is reflected in the department's various services and programs aimed at enhancing the health and quality of life for the state's residents. Montana has around 234,000 adults living with mental health conditions, with over 53,000 adults experiencing serious mental illness annually. The state ranks among the top five in U.S. adult suicide rates for 30 consecutive years. Current data highlights significant gaps in crisis response, mental health treatment availability, and substance use disorder support. Expanding, robust, and accessible behavioral health crisis and treatment services reduces suicide rates, drug overdoses, and untreated mental illness, leading to healthier, more stable communities. Additionally, strengthening these systems lowers the massive, annual, societal, and economic costs of untreated conditions in Montana by decreasing reliance on law enforcement and emergency services. This project will alleviate poverty by addressing health challenges that often prevent individuals from maintaining financial stability. By improving access to prevention, treatment, and recovery services, the project reduces barriers to work, lowers health care and criminal justice costs, and strengthens community resilience—creating pathways for individuals and families to achieve economic security.Further help on this page can be found by clicking here .Member Duties : Be the link to hope and recovery—bolster Montana's behavioral health infrastructure and strengthen our communities!
