Experienced Oiler / Mechanic

That means we look out for one another, take pride in what we build, and take responsibility for our actions, our results, and the long-term health of the company.Guided by our core values of People, Team, Our Bond, Persistence, and Vision, we do what we say we will do, push through challenges and deliver work we’re proud of.When you join Ames, you’re joining a company built for long-term success — where skilled people, strong teams, and disciplined execution come together to build careers and a better future.Key ResponsibilitiesFuel, grease, and service heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and support equipmentPerform daily inspections and identify maintenance or safety issuesConduct preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairsAssist mechanics with troubleshooting and equipment repairsMonitor and maintain fluid levels (engine oil, hydraulic, coolant, etc.)Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and reportsOperate service trucks and maintain tools and equipment in a clean, safe conditionFollow all Ames Construction safety policies and jobsite proceduresQualifications2+ years of experience as an oiler, mechanic, or heavy equipment technicianStrong knowledge of heavy civil construction equipment and maintenance practicesStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsValid driver’s license required (CDL preferred)Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and physicalUnion / Right-to-Work Information (Arizona)This position is associated with work performed under agreements with Operating Engineers Local 12.Arizona Is a Right-to-Work State, MeaningUnion membership is not a condition of employmentEmployees may choose whether or not to join the unionApplicable wages, benefits, and working conditions may still be governed by project labor agreements or collective bargaining agreements where requiredPreferred QualificationsCDL with tanker and/or hazmat endorsementsExperience with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar equipmentWelding and fabrication experienceExperience working on heavy civil, mining, or large infrastructure projectsWork EnvironmentOutdoor construction setting in varying weather conditionsExtended hours, including overtime, weekends, and possible night workPhysically demanding role requiring lifting, climbing, and prolonged standingCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive wages (project and classification dependent)Health, dental, and vision coverageRetirement and pension opportunities (where applicable)Opportunities for overtime and career advancementAmes Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
