Job DescriptionChief Estimator – Build the Preconstruction Department for a Premier Shell ContractorJob Overview\nCompany: Vertex Structures, LLC.\nSalary/Pay Rate: $80,000 to $90,000 per year plus Generous Performance Based Bonuses.\nLocation: Fort Lauderdale, FL.\nJob/Employment Type: Full Time.\nProject Scope: Concrete & Masonry (Commercial, Industrial)\nMandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.\nThe OpportunityYou will serve as the foundational leader of our estimating department, transitioning from performing takeoffs to owning the entire preconstruction system. This role offers direct access to the owner and the autonomy to build a scalable operation from the ground up. You will play a critical part in our growth as a schedule-driven shell contractor, ensuring we protect margins while winning high-impact work.How You Will Make an Impact\nEstablish and improve robust estimating processes and systems to support company scaling.\nManage the bid pipeline by tracking all opportunities and making strategic bid/no-bid decisions.\nPerform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate cost estimates for foundations, slabs, and tilt-up.\nSolicit and level subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure comprehensive and competitive bid coverage.\nDevelop professional proposals that clearly define scope, inclusions, and critical assumptions.\nFacilitate seamless project handoffs to the operations team with a clear understanding of scope.\nProtect project margins by identifying scope gaps and managing risks during the preconstruction phase.\nRequired Qualifications & Experience\nProven experience in estimating specifically within concrete, shell, or structural scopes.\nStrong technical understanding of foundations, slabs, rebar, formwork, and tilt-up construction.\nExpertise in performing detailed takeoffs and building complex pricing models from scratch.\nDemonstrated ability to work in an onsite, office-based environment in Fort Lauderdale.\nExcellent professional communication skills and a solution-oriented mindset.\nPreferred Qualifications & Experience\n5 years of related work experience in the concrete and masonry industry.\nBachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.\nAdvanced ability to think like a builder, focusing on means and methods to identify logistical obstacles.\nExperience in managing medium/large-scale industrial project bids.\nCompensation & Benefits\nBi-weekly pay cycle with performance-based project completion bonuses.\nComprehensive paid time off including holidays, vacation, and sick leave.\nCompany uniforms provided.\nDirect mentorship and daily collaboration with the business owner.\nAbout UsVertex Structures is a premier shell contractor specializing in commercial, industrial, and government masonry and concrete work.
