Location: Rochester, NY
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 5:50 AM - 2:20 PM (32-hour work week)
Duration: Contract position estimated to run through December 2026 (with possible extension)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Packaging Operator to join a manufacturing team in Rochester, NY. In this role, you will operate and monitor Wrapper Cartoner packaging equipment to ensure products are packaged safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality and production standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, quality-focused, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor Wrapper Cartoner packaging machinery to package products according to production specifications.
Set up, adjust, and perform changeovers for packaging equipment based on product and packaging requirements.
Load and replenish packaging materials to ensure continuous machine operation.
Conduct routine quality inspections of products and packaging throughout the production process.
Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment issues while communicating larger concerns to maintenance or supervisors.
Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of packaging equipment.
Complete production documentation, line checks, and quality records accurately and in a timely manner.
Monitor label machine performance, including feeding materials and receiving finished product while minimizing downtime.
Follow all company safety policies, GMP standards, quality procedures, and operating guidelines.
Communicate production updates, equipment concerns, and quality issues to supervisors and team members.
Assist with preventive maintenance activities as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and help achieve daily production goals.
Demonstrate accountability and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Previous manufacturing or packaging experience is a plus but not required.
Strong attention to detail with an excellent eye for product quality.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to understand and safely operate powered material handling equipment.
Effective verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Willingness to comply with company policies, including:

Manufacturing and warehouse environment.
Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.
Frequent lifting, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
Exposure to manufacturing equipment and production noise.
Must follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Physical Requirements:
Standing & Walking: 50%
Bending/kneeling: 50%
Lifting up to 20 pounds: 25-50%
Lifting 20-35 pounds: 25-50%
Lifting 35-50 pounds: 1-25%
Carrying, Pushing or Pulling: 1-25%
