Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer
Summary: The Sr Principal Supplier Quality Engineer serves as the key liaison between upper management and its suppliers, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. This role collaborates closely with procurement, engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to oversee supplier qualification, audits, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:
Key contributor to a comprehensive supplier quality strategy aligned with our business objectives
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate supplier quality initiatives into appropriate activities (NPI, Alternate Sourcing, etc)
Support a culture of quality excellence throughout the organization
Be instrumental in establishing robust processes for supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing assessment including KPIs, monitoring defect rates, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and customer complaints
Use supplier performance metrics to identify trends, and take proactive corrective actions
Collaborate with suppliers to optimize processes and resolve quality issues promptly
Participate in endtoend supplier lifecycle, from initial assessment to ongoing monitoring
Conduct regular supplier audits, assessments, and performance evaluations
Participate in selection and qualification of suppliers
Conduct supplier audits, document findings, and continually monitor improvement and mitigation plans as warranted by the findings or trends detected in NCR s
Assess process capabilities at suppliers for Critical to Quality features in Persimmon’s drawings
Train suppliers on Persimmon’s quality expectations; guide suppliers on root cause analysis
Establish FAI requirements and enforce AQL sampling plans with suppliers
Communicate with suppliers as needed on critical Qualityrelated issues and corrective actions
Establish mindset of “zero defect” with suppliers
Participate in MRB as required from time to time
Skills Required:
Basic understanding of Mechanical (GD&T) & Electromechanical schematic drawings
Competence in various Quality Tools, such as 8D, 5why, fishbone, and KepnerTregoe
Knowledge of statistical process control and SPC tools & process capability measures like Cp & Cpk
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Serviceability, and Cost Reduction practices
Experience in Work Cell Machining and Milling a plus
Proficiency in MS Office Suite of Products, especially Excel, Word, and Power point
Maintain effective relations between company and individual suppliers to obtain desired level of cooperation and collaboration
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and issues
Being able to adjust with short notice in a fastpaced environment with constantly changing priorities
Familiarity with basic mechanical inspection instruments like Vernier Calipers, micrometers, etc.
Ability to understand and decode CMM inspection reports
Experience Required:
10+ years of experience as a Quality Control, Supplier Quality Engineer, or Manufacturing
Semiconductor industry experience is a plus
Alternative phrasing 10+ years of experience in Quality (including Supplier Quality) in an industry that is relative to robotics manufacturing (electromechanical)
Having worked under ISO 9001, ISO13485, ISO14949 or similar Quality Management System environment
Experience in internal audits and/or supplier audits
Minitab or other statistical software experience will be an advantage
Experience with CAD tools like Solidworks will be very helpful for this role
Demonstrated knowledge of method transfers and qualifications/validations
Strong written and oral communication skills to occasionally present to CEO, CTO, VP level
Strong independent organizational skills,
Proven ability to conduct investigations, audits and develop presentations analyzing complex data
Well organized a natural ability to be organized in how you think, communicate, and conduct your work
Ability to navigate through rapid growth and adapt to rapid change
Other Requirements:
This an onsite 5 days per week position
Requires frequent travel up to 40%, to supplier locations which include local, domestic and international destinations
Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 40 pounds parts on occasion
Education Required:
BA/BS degree in Mechanical engineering, or related sciences
Relevant certifications such as Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma would be a plus
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $120k to $170k. The actual pay offered will be determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, job-related knowledge, internal equity, and geographical location.
