Controller (Contract / Contract-to-Hire) | Houston, TX (Hybrid/Onsite)About UsBrilliant® is an award-winning contract and consulting practice headquartered in Chicago, specializing in accounting, finance, technology, and business solutions across the Midwest and Southeast U.S. labor markets.We are working with a middle-market services company ($150M revenue) to identify a hands-on Controller to support the business through a critical period, including audit readiness and a potential sale process.This is an immediate need for a 2–4 month engagement with potential for contract-to-hire. The company is located ~30 minutes southwest of Houston, with a preference for onsite support (flexibility for the right candidate).Role Overview:This position requires a strong “doer” who can operate at both a Controller and CFO level, partnering closely with leadership to drive accounting operations, financial reporting, and transaction readiness. Key Responsibilities:Own and manage full-cycle accounting and month-end closeSupport audit and sell-side readiness, including financial statement preparationRoll forward financials from prior year and ensure accuracy and consistencyOversee AP/AR functions and provide guidance to lean accounting staffManage and optimize recently implemented Sage Intacct systemEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting for leadership and external stakeholdersPartner with leadership on financial insights, reporting, and transaction supportOperate independently in a lean environment with minimal oversightQualifications:Proven experience as a Controller or senior-level accounting leaderExperience supporting audit and/or transaction (sell-side) environmentsStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reportingExperience in mid-sized or founder-owned businesses preferredAbility to be hands-on while also providing strategic insightExperience with Sage Intacct strongly preferredComfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environmentBrilliant Staffing, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
