We're focused on building a team that values excellence, making a meaningful impact on our schools and community.POSITION DESCRIPTION* To provide support and explicit instruction to English Language Learners through intervention, support and classroom instructionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plansTeach listening, speaking, reading and writing through core content instruction based on the Tennessee Academic Standards for Language Arts and the WIDA StandardsAdminister required tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language abilityDevelop individual learning plans based on data and implement the action steps in that plan by working closely with core content teachersSupport ELL students with the core content of the grade levelProvide instruction on language and speaking and writing dailyParticipate in a variety of meetings to convey and gain information to improve service to ELL studentsMaintain positive relationships with parents and community membersInform parents of progress and challenges to collaborate on best practices with each studentModel effective communication with studentsPlan, prepare, implement, and assess instructional lessons based on the grade-level standards and the individual learning plan for each studentQUALIFICATIONS:Appropriate Tennessee Teaching License with applicable endorsementFluency in instruction in the following areas of the English language: listening, speaking, reading and writingBachelors' Degree or higher in related fieldDemonstrate Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of Second Language Acquisition theoriesKnowledge and appreciates of cultural differences and impact on student learningEffective communication skillsApplication Procedure:Apply onlineFranklin Special School District Pay ScaleEqual Opportunity Employer StatementFranklin Special District (FSD) is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
