DutiesJOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Speech Language PathologistLOCATION: Steger Primary Center, Steger Intermediate Center,Columbia Central SchoolSUPERVISOR: Principal and Director of Student ServicesFLSA Status: ExemptUnion/Non-Union: UnionJOB SUMMARY:Responsible for evaluating students' speech and language skills; providing therapeutic intervention to identified students; consulting with staff and/or parents regarding speech and language functioning in the educational setting.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.Identifies and evaluates students with speech and language impairments.Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and language impaired children.Participates in the determination of eligibility for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.Participates in the teacher and parent conferences including multidisciplinary conferences, IEP meetings and Annual Reviews.Develops and implements IEPs for all students eligible for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.Provides intervention support for students in the speech RtI process.Team teaches with classroom teachers when appropriate.Completes required documentation and reports, including Medicaid billing, case notes, and related service logs.Participates on case study and collaboration teams as needed.Facilitates curriculum and instructional modifications.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional tasks as assigned.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:* The role requires frequent sitting, walking, standing, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.* Occasional travel to various school locations required.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature and noise are relatively nonexistentWork is performed in an environment where health hazards may occurOccasional need for work outside the normal hours/daysQUALIFICATIONS:* Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with:* Speech Language Pathologist (teaching or non-teaching) endorsementTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:* All terms of employment are outlined by the collective bargaining agreement with the Steger Education Association.EVALUATION: The performance of this role is evaluated according to the Board's policy on evaluating professional personnel by the Director of Student ServicesSalary/BenefitsLink: Teacher's ContractLink: Benefit Fact Sheet$5000 - Student Services StipendHow to ApplyGo to www.sd194.org / Administration / Current OpeningsLink to District/Third Party Online Application Web Pagehttps://www.sd194.org/70101_2Email Addressjhering@sd194.orgSchool Districthttps://www.sd194.org/Position Websitehttps://www.sd194.org/70101_2City WebsiteStegerILearn LinkILearnReport Card LinkDistrict Report CardJob Posting Date4/13/2026Start Date8/17/2026
