This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll shape cutting-edge electrical and control systems—from concept through deployment—while mentoring the next generation of engineers.If you're driven by ownership, technical excellence, and building systems that operate in demanding environments, this role is for you.What You'll DoLead System Design: Architect and deliver advanced electrical and control system designs for complex, multidisciplinary systems.Own the Full Lifecycle: Drive projects from concept, analysis, and simulation through design, integration, testing, and deployment.Lead & Mentor: Guide and develop small-to-mid-sized teams of engineers, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.Solve Ambiguous Problems: Translate high-level, incomplete requirements into robust, working solutions with minimal oversight.Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to build cohesive, high-performing systems.Drive Technical Excellence: Apply strong judgment, creativity, and attention to detail while maintaining a system-level perspective.Present & Defend Designs: Lead and contribute to design reviews with internal teams and stakeholders.Own Outcomes: Operate with autonomy, accountability, and a strong sense of ownership over results.What You BringCore RequirementsBachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Computer Engineering, Robotics, etc.)10+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering across design, integration, and testing of complex systemsEligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security ClearanceU.S. Citizenship requiredTechnical Expertise (Ideal Candidates Will Have Most of the Following)Integration of COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) components into cohesive systems, including custom interface designStrong knowledge of power systems, signal conditioning, control systems, and industrial electrical componentsExperience with embedded systems (microprocessors, SBCs, sensors, actuators, I/O design)Deep understanding of data communications protocols (Ethernet, USB, RS-xxx, SPI, I2C, CAN) in noisy environmentsDC power system design and system-level power budgetingExpertise in EMI/noise mitigation, grounding, and cabling designStrong electrical documentation skills (schematics, wiring diagrams, system diagrams)Proficiency with tools like:Altium, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB/MathCADStandard test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, etc.)Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical conceptsDifferentiators (Nice to Have)Experience in marine or underwater systems (ROVs, AUVs, sonar)Familiarity with industry and military standards (IEEE, MIL, IEC, etc.)Hands-on technical skills (wiring, soldering, assembly)Experience with:Fiber opticsPCB designMotor drives, robotics, and automationClosed-loop control systemsLow- to medium-voltage power systemsMachine safety systemsProgramming or scriptingWhy This Role Stands OutTechnical Ownership: You'll lead meaningful, complex projects—not just contribute.Impact: Your work directly influences mission-critical systems.Growth: Expand your technical breadth and leadership scope.Variety: Work across disciplines, technologies, and environments.Adventure: Occasional travel (domestic, international, and offshore) to see your systems in action.
