Job Description Hood Certification Technician – NSF49 (Onsite)Location: Chicago, ILDuration: 6+ Month Contract About the RoleWe are seeking a Hood Certification Technician to support a leading life sciences and laboratory compliance organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the testing, certification, and maintenance of biological safety cabinets (BSCs) and laminar flow hoods used in pharmaceutical, biotech, and research environments.This is a hands-on, field-based technical role ensuring critical lab equipment meets NSF49 and regulatory compliance standards. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform certification and testing of biological safety cabinets (BSCs) and laminar flow hoodsConduct airflow measurements, HEPA filter integrity tests, and calibration proceduresEnsure equipment meets NSF49 safety and performance standardsDocument all certification results accurately and timelyPerform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of lab hoodsCoordinate with clients to schedule onsite certification workMaintain calibration tools and ensure proper equipment functionality Required Skills & ExperienceExperience working with biological safety cabinets (BSCs) and/or laminar flow hoodsFamiliarity with NSF49 standards or similar regulatory frameworksExperience in airflow testing, calibration, or validationStrong attention to detail and documentation skillsAbility to work independently in field-based environmentsStrong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred BackgroundCandidates with experience in:Cleanroom certification or validationField service engineering (lab or HVAC systems)Pharma / biotech manufacturing environmentsEnvironmental monitoring or QA/QC roles About the Work EnvironmentYou will be working in regulated pharmaceutical and biotechnology environments, ensuring critical lab safety systems operate correctly and meet compliance standards.
