Substation Physical Drafter

Title: Substation Physical Drafter Location: Detroit MI Duration: 12-month contract Pay Range: $35 - $42/hr DOE. Target start date / availability: ASAP interview and start. We are seeking a Physical Substation Drafter to support transmission and distribution projects within a collaborative engineering environment. This role offers a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office and two days remote. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your drafting skills while gaining exposure to 3D modeling and substation design environments. Responsibilities • Prepare detailed substation design drawings based on engineering input • Create scaled layout drawings showing proposed installations relative to existing facilities • Assist with equipment layout and clearance development • Utilize AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation • Support site walkdowns to gather field information • Coordinate with vendors and construction teams to clarify drawing intent • Support drawing revisions and updates Qualifications • Associate’s Degree in Drafting or equivalent experience • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation • Ability to visualize equipment details and electrical clearances • Strong understanding of drafting standards and blueprint production • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively Preferred: • Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design • Experience in physical or P&C substation drafting • Experience in 3D design environments
