Provide leadership for the elementary and secondary programs and stay current with research, trends, and laws in PE/health education. Plan and implement professional development and serve as liaison between the campuses and with the Texas Education AgencyQualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's DegreeMaster's Degree (preferred)Special Knowledge/Skills:A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and technologyAbility to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectivenessStrong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Three years of teaching experience in the area of assignmentLeadership experience (preferred)Major Responsibilities and Duties:Develop, promote, and support a curriculum that helps each child develop a sense of self-worth and critical thinking skills according to the district's strategic plan, mission, and goalsCollaborate with the community and team leaders to provide a quality instructional programCoordinate the activities of textbook adoption process and staff development for secondary campusesAnalyze data for curriculum and instructional processes including monitoring programs for improvement and to ensure that program activities are geared to student successDevelop evaluation instruments and recommend improvement in the purposes, design, materials, and implementation of instructional and other support programsPlan the instructional programs to meet identified needsEncourage, organize, and administer district events and other academic competitionsProvide expert assistance, leadership, and support in designing learning experiences for studentsPromote collaborative teaming by working with multiple departments and the community to create a caring climate for learning and a positive school climateProvide technical assistance to the instructional staff concerning the teaching and learning process through conferencing and staff development sessionsCommunicate district curriculum, instructional practices, accomplishments, goals, and new directions both to parents and the community at large to solicit their supportSecure consultants, specialists, materials, and other community resources to assist in meeting program goalsImplement and monitor policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and the local board policies in the area of specializationContribute to the development of budgets by submitting cost estimates based upon documented program needsFollow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from superiorsFollow attendance policy as assigned by supervisorPerform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisorWorking Conditions:Mental Demands:Communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptionsPhysical Demands/Environmental Factors:Frequent districtwide and /or statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions; occasional lifting up to 50 poundsSM042426SM061825
