Job Description As a welder at Fincantieri Marinette Marine you will:Weld or tack weld metal parts together, using spot welding gun or hand, electric, or gas welding equipmentConnect hoses from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and turns valves to release mixtureIgnites torch and regulates flow of gas and air to obtain desired temperature, size, and color of flamePreheats work pieces preparatory to welding or bending, using torchExamines work piece for defects and measures work piece with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specificationsClimbs ladders or works on scaffolds to assemble structuresSignals crane operator to move large work piecesDismantles metal assemblies or cuts scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipmentPositions and secures parts, using hoist, crane, wire and banding machine, or hand toolsSelects, positions, and secures torch, cutting tips, or welding rod, according to type, thickness, area, and desired temperature of metalGuides and directs flame or electrodes on or across work piece to straighten, bend, melt, or build up metalFuses parts together, seals tension points, and adds metal to build up partsHone your welding skills, train to read and comprehend blue prints, read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, and squareJoin us in this state-of-the-art facility where precision meets passion, and where your manufacturing skills will shine brighter than ever before.
