Forensic Psychiatric Prescriber
StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Forensic Psychiatric Prescriberto join its outstanding Forensics Team supporting people with mental illness at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
As akey member of the Psychiatric Care Team at the Lubbock County Detention Center, the Forensic Psychiatric Prescriber provides primary psychiatric care to an identified caseload of inmates that qualify for StarCare services. This position works in conjunction with the Psychiatric Care Team and all other Forensic Staff to ensure that assigned inmates are receiving the best comprehensive care possible.
Essential Duties:
Performs assessments including, but not limited to, psychiatric evaluations, pharmacological management, mental status exams, AIMS Inventories, laboratory tests, and provides education and/or counseling to patients, following established guidelines and protocols, in order to provide quality medical care for clients.
Provides primary psychiatric care as part of the Psychiatric Care Team at the Lubbock County Detention Center for a select population of inmates.
Acts as a key member of the Psychiatric Care Team and collaborates with a variety of agencies and professionals to provide the best care possible to assigned inmates. This includes regular treatment teams, one on one appointments, department collaborative meetings, communication with partner agencies, and follow up appointments.
Completes and submits required documentation in a timely manner, including but not limited to notes, contact notes, medication consents, and any other related documentation following established guidelines in order to meet funding source requirements to ensure efficient and effective operations as established in the Texas Administrative Code, Center policies, and LCDC policies.
Schedule:This is a full-time/exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program. Recognized by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Board Certified by an agency approved by the American Nurses Association; or
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Recognized by the Texas Medical Board. Physician Assistant License
Full-time experience as a practicing PA in a recognized public health agency, detention center, hospital or health care facility.
Psychiatric experience is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to obtain and maintain and security clearance through the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Additional Requirements:
Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
