Position Overview:
The Asst Warranty and Validation Technician implements the DMA quality control program for all new parts and existing parts. This position pulls sample parts and conducts product inspection and testing according to established testing procedures. This position documents inspection results and provides reports for management review.
Responsibilities:
Using approved factory drawings and tolerance standards, inspect new part numbers and existing part numbers and record the findings in the DMA inspection database. Report any out of standard inspection results to the Director of Product Development for follow-up
Using the standard DMA inspection process for each type of product; measure and create laboratory testing information for every new part sample before shipment to the factory for development
Prior to the arrival of inbound container shipments, identify the individual part numbers and quantities on the inbound shipment. Using the DMA sampling procedure; prepare information for the Operations Department to identify and pull parts for quality review during the receiving process
Conduct the inspection process as samples are received at the laboratory promptly. Follow warehouse procedures for moving product in and out of the laboratory area. Enter all inspection results in the quality control database
Maintain the sample parts storage room with the most current sample of every part approved for sale. An example of the most current version of every part number must be tagged and binned correctly in the sample parts storage room
Review new part samples received from the factory using the same inspection process and maintain inspection records. Report the results to the Director of Product Management to decide on the design to approve production
Generate monthly reports to document inspection and quality issues from the quality inspection database
Must be able to operate measurement and testing equipment and understand metrology standards
Safely disassemble and reassemble parts as necessary to facilitate inspection activities
Requirements:
Qualifications:
High School graduate with a minimum of 2 years’ working experience in Automotive Parts, Service Consulting Quality or Manufacturing Technology
Two-year Technical School Preferred
Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing experience required
Understand the proper techniques of operating of measurement tools and testing laboratory equipment
Ability to create reports in Microsoft Word
Create spreadsheets with formulas and filters as needed for reports and research
Checking quality experience required
Work with other Product Management team members regarding product quality issues
Positive attitude and desire to help customers and staff members resolve problems
Expertise in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Access and computer literacy preferred
Initiative
Ability to lift parts to 40 pounds from the floor to a worktable for inspection
Work in a warehouse environment 50% of the time; testing laboratory 50% of the time
Traveling to other warehouses; Nichols, Mullins, Tabor City may be required
