Submit your application for the opportunity below: CytotechnologistJob Summary And QualificationsThe Cytotechnologist / Cytotech is responsible for preparation and storage of all specimens and necessary documentation. Prepares stains and slides for reading by Cytotechnologist or review by the Pathologist.Essential FunctionsStains, mounts and studies cells of human body to detect evidence of cancer, hormonal abnormalities and other pathological conditions, following established standards and practices: Prepares microscopic slides from specimens of blood, scrapings or other bodily exudates and fixes stains and slide to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under microscope. Examine cell samples to detect abnormal hormone conditions. Examine cell samples to detect abnormalities in the color, shape or size of cellular components and patterns. Evaluate cells for the presence of cancer, precancerous changes or infections. Prepare and analyze samples, such as Papanicolaou (PAP) smear body fluids and fine needle aspirations (FNAs) to detect abnormal conditions. Provide patient clinical data or microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports. Assist Pathologists or other physicians to collect cell samples such as by fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies. Quality Assurance in the laboratory including the maintenance of the system in accordance with the requirements of the College of the American Pathologists and preparation for site visits. Prepare slides and reports in a timely fashion, ensuring Q.C. are met. Maintain procedures and records to meet all regulatory standards. Perform other duties as necessary for efficient operation of the department. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements. Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety. Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance. Prepare and maintain reagents and equipment. Education RequirementsBachelor’s Degree required Florida License Cytotechnologist required C.T.
