Logistics Supervisor
Position SummaryThe Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations within a laboratory environment, including managing a fleet of couriers, coordinating specimen/sample transportation, and maintaining accurate inventory levels. This role ensures timely, compliant, and efficient movement of materials while supporting overall lab operations.Responsibilities:Courier & Fleet ManagementSupervise and coordinate daily activities of courier staff, including scheduling, routing, and performance monitoringEnsure timely pickup and delivery of laboratory specimens, supplies, and documentsMonitor fleet usage, maintenance schedules, and vehicle compliance (licenses, inspections, etc.)Optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and reduce costsInventory ManagementOversee inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumablesMaintain accurate inventory records using tracking systemsConduct regular audits and cycle countsCoordinate ordering and replenishment to prevent shortages or overstockLogistics CoordinationEnsure proper handling, packaging, and transport of lab materials in compliance with regulatory and safety standardsCollaborate with lab staff to prioritize urgent or time-sensitive deliveriesTroubleshoot delays, delivery issues, or operational disruptionsCompliance & SafetyEnforce adherence to OSHA, DOT, and laboratory safety regulationsTrain staff on proper handling of biological or hazardous materialsMaintain documentation for audits and inspectionsTeam LeadershipTrain, mentor, and evaluate courier and logistics personnelDevelop schedules and manage staffing levelsPromote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvementReporting & Process ImprovementTrack and report key performance metrics (delivery times, error rates, inventory accuracy)Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvementsSupport implementation of logistics or inventory management systemsQualifications:Education & ExperienceAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Biology, or related field (preferred)3-5+ years of logistics, transportation, or inventory management experiencePrior experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or regulated environment strongly preferredPrevious supervisory experience requiredSkills & CompetenciesStrong organizational and multitasking skillsKnowledge of inventory systems and logistics softwareUnderstanding of laboratory handling procedures and compliance standardsExcellent leadership and communication skillsProblem-solving and decision-making ability under pressureWorking Conditions & ScheduleLaboratory and warehouse environmentSchedule is typically a hybrid between 1st and 2nd shift based on business needsMust be flexible and willing to work off-hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call support as neededMay require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
