*Open Position for Postdoc / PhD*Design of electrochemical and mechano-chemical systems for hydrogen carrier regeneration (NaBO2 to NaBH4)The Fuel Cells and Electrochemistry Laboratory and the Ariel Biofluid and Energy Lab at Ariel University, Israel, are seeking PhD or postdoctoral candidates to conduct applied and analytical research in the field of electrochemical and mechano-chemical systems for the regeneration of hydrogen storage materials. The candidate will join a well-established interdisciplinary group of scientists under the supervision of Prof. Alex Schechter and Prof. Idit Avrahami and will contribute to our efforts to explore the physical, chemical, and mechanical design of catalytic reduction processes. The research focuses on converting sodium metaborate (NaBO2) back into sodium borohydride (NaBH4) powder, optimizing reaction conditions, and evaluating energy efficiency. This research aims to develop non-noble metal catalysts, utilize mechanical ball milling for solid-phase electrodes, and establish reliable in situ electrochemical quantification methods, leading to sustainable breakthroughs in the green-hydrogen economy.Ariel University offers a collaborative research environment and features state-of-the-art research facilities relevant to the project. A full competitive scholarship and subsidized accommodation are offered to prospective candidates.Required Qualifications: Advanced degree (PhD for postdoctoral applicants, MSc for PhD applicants) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering. Experience in electrochemical techniques (e.g., voltammetry, chronoamperometry) and/or mechanochemical processing (ball milling), hands-on and creative problem-solving skills, and a proven scientific publication record. For more information, please contact: Prof. Alex Schechter – salex@ariel.ac.il Prof. Idit Avrahami – iditav@ariel.ac.il
