Assistant General Counsel
Position Overview:Rendina Healthcare Real Estate, a nationally recognized developer, owner, and operator of healthcare real estate, is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel / Deputy General Counsel to serve as a key member of its legal leadership team. This position is based out of our Jupiter Fl headquarters, with the potential of a hybrid schedule.Reporting to the General Counsel, this individual will partner closely with executive leadership, development, asset management, and finance teams to structure, negotiate, and execute complex real estate transactions, manage risk, and support the company’s continued growth.The ideal candidate brings deep experience in commercial real estate and development, with the ability to navigate a variety of aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions across the full lifecycle of real estate development, operations and disposition of a national portfolio.Key Responsibilities:Healthcare Real Estate Development, Acquisition and DispositionLead legal support for the development, acquisition and disposition of medical office buildings (MOBs), outpatient facilities, ambulatory care centers, and hospital-adjacent projects Structure, draft, and negotiate agreements, including: Land acquisition and purchase & sale agreements or ground lease agreementsJoint venture and partnership agreements (including health system affiliations) Initial lease-up activities (advising on LOI preparation; drafting and negotiating leases) Construction agreementsProvide legal oversight of property due diligence, with a focus on title, survey and environmental Support capital stack structuring, including debt financing (negotiation of construction and acquisition loan documents) and equity financing (drafting and negotiation of joint venture agreements with hospital partners and institutional capital partners; support preparation of documents for capital raises) Leasing, Asset Management & OperationsOversee leasing documentation for national multi-tenant medical office portfolio Support finance team in loan document negotiations for refinancing'sSupport asset management team with: Lease amendments, renewals, assignments, subleases Tenant improvement agreements Property management and vendor contracts Advise on operational risk, disputes, and tenant relationships Corporate, Governance & Risk ManagementSupport entity structuring, formation, maintenance and licensing Develop and standardize legal templates, playbooks, and processes for scalability Identify and mitigate legal risks across development, leasing, and operations Assist with ancillary agreements (drafting and negotiation of confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements, SaaS agreements) Legal Department LeadershipServe as a key deputy to the General Counsel, with the ability to step in on priority matters Help scale the legal function to support a growing development and asset portfolio Mentor junior legal staff and promote legal best practices across the organization QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Member in good standing of the Florida Bar (required) 6–15+ years of experience, with a focus on: Commercial real estate transactions Real estate development and joint ventures Combination of top law firm and in-house experience preferred Core CompetenciesDeep expertise in papering and negotiating complex commercial real estate deal structuring and execution Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a deal-driven environment Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple concurrent developments and transactions at various stages of the project life cycleCommitment to working in a collaborative, entrepreneurial team environmentAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
