Maintenance Journeyman - Instrument
Position SummaryThe Maintenance Instrumentation Journeyman is responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of existing instrument and automation systems as well as installation, testing and commissioning of new installations and associated equipment. The Maintenance Journeyman may be responsible for supervising and training other craftsmen and working on various jobs without direct supervision. The Maintenance Journeyman embraces positive change and is committed to advancing their understanding of the Wynnewood refinery systems by a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and training. The Maintenance Journeyman promotes safety and quality and will support efforts to increase the reliability of this facility.Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate of Applied Science degree in Instrumentation or related field preferredOklahoma State Journeyman Electrical License preferredJourneyman Instrument Technician or an official apprenticeship qualification/certification from a nationally recognized apprenticeship training program preferredNCCER Instrumentation Certification preferredExperience Requirements5+ years’ industrial instrument experience required5+ years’ experience in a refinery environment preferredA working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word preferredWorking knowledge of electrical one-lines, electrical three-lines, electrical schematics, and electrical prints preferredExperience safely working with the hazards and using the associated proper PPE on voltages up to 600 volts preferredDemonstrated basic understanding of electrical and electronic instrumentation operating principles requiredExperience with pressure, level, flow, temperature sensing instruments and experience with final element equipment such as control valves, actuators, and positioners requiredExperience with digital, analog, and pneumatic controls and calibration techniques requiredWorking knowledge of P&ID’s, loop drawings, and cascade loops is requiredDirect experience with SCADA/PLC/Pneumatic controlled loops with the ability to troubleshoot an array of problems associated with the equipment preferredWorking knowledge of Analyzers: Gas Chromatographs, Combustion Analyzers, Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and Opacity preferredFamiliarity with Distributed Control Systems: Honeywell preferredFamiliarity with Equipment Monitoring: Vibration monitors, Anti-surge controls preferredFamiliarity with Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers / HMI’s, Redlion HMI’s, SCADA systems preferredFamiliarity with Ethernet IP, ModBus, RS-485 communications protocols preferredMust be able to provide and receive directions from othersAbility to use a computer for data entry, work order processing and other minor tasks preferredFluent in English, oral and written required.Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.Major AccountabilitiesPerform all duties in compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental, applicable government regulations, and industry best practicesMust be able to work with multiple projects and/or issues from a variety of sources Provide electrical and instrumentation support to maintain equipment and facilities in a manner that is safe, efficient, and environmentally soundParticipating in project planning includes drawing updates, P&ID development, and Cause & Effects developmentInstall, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, pneumatic, process controls and new equipment as projects dictateUse hand and power tools to complete assigned work tasksSet up, prepare, and inspect the worksite at start of project and clean up at end of projectStudy blueprints or manufacturer's manuals to determine the correct installation or operation of equipmentRegularly communicate with management work progress, concerns, and questionsParticipate in the PM program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machinesKeeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentationRecord repairs and maintenance performedExposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
